Speech & Debate Members,
Something else that needs to be discussed is the attendance and general structure of our meetings. The bottom line is you need to be attending meetings. We completely understand that this is an extremely busy time of year with sports, holidays, classes, homework, and jobs, but efforts still need to be made to attend meetings. If you can’t come you must talk to me, Mrs. D, or another officer to find out what you missed and also to let us know where you are with your piece. If you do not start to attend meetings or make an effort to contact we are going to assume you are no longer on the team and remove your name from our lists. Furthermore simply showing up to meetings is not enough. We’ve had too many people show up on multiple occasions without their piece or anything to work on. Meetings are meant for you to work and practice your piece. You need to please come prepared and be on time. We expect you to be in Mrs. D’s room by 2:45 for meetings. This Friday please plan on being in Mrs. D’s room by 2:40 so we can get started right away. We hope to see everyone this Friday so we can get some business taken care of then kick the holidays off early with a little fun. Please remember to bring snacks or drinks with you to share with everyone. Please spread the word to other members to attend this meeting. Thank you!
Congratulations to the team for their excellent work at the Dallastown Wildcat Invitational! The team took second place overall, which is a very big accomplishment!
Molly won second in impromptu speaking! Joe won third in spontaneous argumentation (This was Joe's first tournament!) Jared won second in LD debate, second speaker award, second in spontaneous argumentation and the outstanding audience member award! Laura won fourth in prose! Lora won second in improv acting! Joanna won first in poetry, first in improv acting, second in prose, second in dramatic preformance, and second in individual sweepstakes Andrew successfully made it through his first tournament observing!
Job well done everyone! Come to the upcoming meetings as the team prepares for our next tournament.
